Exotic Flavours of Indonesia Promotes High End Indonesian Culinary Art in the Taste of Amsterdam 2017

Exotic Flavours of Indonesia Pavilion presents high end Indonesian cuisine in the Taste of Amsterdam Festival at Amstelpark, Amsterdam, 2-5 June 2017. The Pavilion was organized by the Embassy of Indonesia in cooperation with Indonesia Satu (chef association) and supported by fine dining Indonesian restaurant in the Netherlands, Ron Gastrobar Indonesia, and Kopi Dua (importer of Indonesian specialy coffee).

“The people in the Netherlands is already very familiar with Indonesian cuisine. With our participation in this Festival, we want to lift that popularity to a higher level. We hope to see more fine dining Indonesian restaurant in the Netherlands,” explained the Indonesian Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, I Gusti Agung Wesaka Puja. 

The Taste of Amsterdam was open for public on 2 June 2017. During the opening day, the Indonesian phenomenal ethnic fusion guitarist, Balawan, performed exclusively at the Indonesian Pavilion to the joy of the visitors.

During the four day program, the Indonesian Pavilion will feature top Indonesian chefs in the Netherlands such as Jermaine de Rozario (one of the juries of Top Kitchen Chef), Arjuna Basemboen and Anita Boerenkamp (owner of an Indonesian restaurant which received Michelin Star in 1998-2007). The top chefs will entertain  the visitors to participate in an interactive cooking demonstration and workshop. Visitors will also get a valuable chance to study fruit carving with fruit carving master, Chef Didi Han.

During the Festival, a number of Indonesian top dishes will be presented such as Ayam Bumbu Bali presented as Taco Ayam Besisit, Ikan Ijo Kabeljauw, Pepes Ikan and Ayam Betutu. In addition, Indonesian specialty coffee such as Toraja Coffee will also be presented to the visitors. 

The Taste of Amsterdam is an annual culinary festival presenting high end restaurants in the Netherlands. The Embassy of Indonesia participated for the fourth time as the only Embassy participant to elevate the popularity of Indonesian cuisine further among the Dutch people.
